Antiwue 21 Simon Halbig Heinrich German Bisque Head Sleepy Eyes Brunette Doll. DESCRIPTION: This is an antique child doll by Heinrich Handwerck for noted German Doll makers Simon & Halbig. She features a fully jointed composite body and bisque porcelain head with hand-painted features, open mouth with four teeth showing, and blue-gray glass sleepy eyes that open and close. Her eyes also feature rare mohair eyelashes. The doll has pierced ears but no earrings. She has dark brown eyebrows and brown hair (wig is not original). She wears a fancy dark pink silk dress with off-white lace trim, off-white half slip and off-white bloomers. Her hat is white silk with pink ribbon and white feather accents. There is a band around her torso that may be indicative of a prior repair. Her composite body is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. Her finger and toenails are painted red. She is marked “Germany, Simon & Halbig, Heinrich Handwerck” on the back of her head and “11C” on the bottom of each foot. CONDITION: Doll is offered in very good, as-found antique condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age. There is some crazing and minor damage (scuffing) to composite body, including slight loss to fingertips. There is what we assume to be a repair to her torso. There is potential minor scuffing and patina to the head but no breaks or damage. Wig is not original. The ears appear to once have had earrings, but these are missing. Mild odors from storage may be present. Dress has some small holes. All clothing may be slightly discolored due to age.
