7 Recknagel #1909 Mignonette Cutie. Bisque Head / Wrestler Body. Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany. Marked “1909 DEP R 15/0 A”. This Recknagel cutie dates to the early 1900s though not necessarily 1909… That is just her mold number. She has a bisque head with sleep eyes, mohair wig, and 5-piece composition “wrestler” body. She is wearing an exceptionally nice outfit consisting of a plaid dress with pleated skirt and lace trim, matching bonnet, and two-piece undergarments. Beautiful minty antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No noteworthy issues found with the bisque after careful examination. She has a tiny mold defect on her right eye, which is detectable upon very close examination. Her stringing is somewhat loose, but she comes with a doll stand as shown so she can be displayed. There is a stain on her undergarments (on the right side). IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
