My Grandmother was an avid doll collector and was heavily involved in the Washington DC Dollogy Club. I had the dolls on display until I moved and they have been stored in a closet (air conditioned) since then. Even though I love them all, I just don’t have room to display them. So, please keep an eye on my other listings as I will be listing over the next week or so. Antique German “MABEL” Doll This cutie in blue stands approximately 20. She is marked Germany Mabel and 6/0 on the back of her bisque shoulder plate. She has open mouth with 4 teeth. Her blue glass eyes are fixed and do not sleep. She has an adorable chin dimples. Her rivet jointed gusseted body is made of kid leather with bisque lower arms. There is a partial label on her chest that looks like it reads “Florence” but the “Fl” is missing. Kid leather is in good shape for age with most of the age wear damage around the shoulder plate area – see photos. Her long straight wig is human hair. It has lost a lot of it’s hair and will probably need to be replaced (or just leave it covered with her hat). She wears a newer style blue cotton dress with pinafore, matching hat and pantaloons along with a pair of black shoes. She is in good overall condition for the age (please refer to photos). She has all her fingers. There is some staining to the bisque arms. I have not tried to clean it. No damage to the bisque head. She is a Marseille Dolly Face doll made in Germany, circa 1894+ Condition issues: Original wig is very thin and sheds. Glass eyes are fixed. She will come to you wearing the outfit shown in photos. She is a Marseille Dolly Face doll made in Germany, circa 1894+. Original human hair wig is very thin and sheds. Smoke free home but the previous environment may not have been smoke/pet free. Any odors detected will be addressed. Condition grades like “mint”, “near mint”, etc. Are very subjective so I don’t use them.
