20 Early Simon & Halbig #1010. Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany c. Marked (only): S&H 1010 DEP. This is a sweet, innocent-looking sprite of a girl. She’s a 20 early mold #1010 bisque turned shoulder-head by Simon & Halbig, on a gusseted kid leather body with bisque lower arms and hands. Her face painting is lovely, and she has serene blue-gray threaded glass sleep eyes. She is wearing a nice curly blonde wig in fairly good condition. Her ecru lace dress with amber yellow accents looks stunning on her, and she has a matching hat and gold ball earrings in her pierced ears. She comes with pantaloons and slip, stockings, and shoes. She’ll look great in your collection! Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No issues found with the bisque after careful examination. Her left cheek has a hint of a rub. There have been a few patches added to her leather body over the years. It does not seem to be leaking sawdust. Some repaint to fingers and on her lower arms. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
