ANTIQUE GERMAN EARLY CHINA DOLL. BALD HEAD – So Called’Biedermeier’ – ca: 1850’s. This doll is from a smoke free home and has no odors. What a great face! This antique German china doll is 18 inches tall. For price reference see page # 168 in the book,’Doll Values’ 13th Edition by Linda Edward. For identification reference see page # 38 in the book,’Identifying German Chinas’ by Mary Gorham Krombholz. This doll has an old cloth body. She has bisque arms/hands; bisque legs/boots; and a bisque shoulder plate and head. Her boots are part of the molded legs and her left boot has been broken and glued back together. She wears a antique lace trimmed underclothes; a vintage brown floral print skirt; a vintage lace trimmed light brown blouse; a tattered lace cloth belt; two cloth bows in her hair; and a modern straw hat. She has a human hair antique wig (maybe original) that has wonderful braiding. This doll is an excellent example of an early German china doll.
