9 1909 Germany Bisque Head, Brown Mohair Suit, Snow Baby, Explorer Doll. An interesting novelty and rarity, celebrating what was a huge accomplishment- Robert Peary visiting the North Pole. Doll head is incised 1909. Could be a mold number but odd coincidence that was the year Peary completed the journey. Of course we are familiar with the “Snow Baby”, his daughter born in the Arctic and the sensation she caused! This doll has a lovely face, brown fixed eyes, open mouth, no cracks. It has a typical 5 piece composition body with unusual brown molded boots. Her outfit is all brown mohair with black oilcloth belt and front piece. The black belt is cracked and fragile. Outfit is sewn on. Top was removed at one time to restring. I have included a brown mohair wig, for you to use or not use. I clipped the thread so you can see there are no damages, repairs or ugly surprises. I displayed this doll with the snow babies I collected.
