Early Simon & Halbig 570. Bisque Head / Composition Body. Marked: “570 / Germany / HALBIG / S&H” This is an early Simon & Halbig #570 with original paint on her ball-jointed composition body, which is stamped Heinrich Handwerck Germany. She has lovely hands with individual (separated) fingers. Her lovely human hair wig is set in a nice side-swept style with a large pink bow. She is dressed beautifully in an antique 2-piece waisted lawn dress, with lace, silk ribbon, and tiny embroidered flowers. The ribbon is fragile in some places; it could be original to the doll. She has a pretty event piece — nosegay of lace, silk ribbon, and flowers at the waist. She is wearing vintage shoes, socks, and 2-piece undergarments. Wonderful for a discriminating collector. The following props are not included: DOLL STAND, CHAIR. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No condition issues observed on the bisque, and her facial paint is very nice. Average age wear on the composition. Some surface cracking under the arm (see final photo). The red “Heinrich Handwerck” stamp is double-stamped, but it’s that way from the factory. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
