Rare 23 Armand Marseille. Made in Germany – c. Bisque Head / Composition Body – Stands Approx. 22.5″ Tall – Marked (only): “29 Princess 1 Germany” This is the hard-to-find “Princess, ” mold number 29, by Armand Marseille, size 1 — truly one of the prettiest dolls of the “dolly face period. She is well painted and wearing a honey-brown mohair wig swept back on the sides with flowers, while the rest of her hair is wavy and hangs freely. She has a beautiful dress, undergarments and shoes. She displays well and looks so divine! NOTE: Photo props not included: DOLL STAND. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No issues found with the bisque after careful examination. She has what one would think are fine cracks under the wig along the mold lines on either side of her head. But, in fact, they are NOT cracks ; they do not go through to interior of head. And she has been carefully inspected with interior lighting and UV lighting. I’ve seen these mold lines on their dolls before. It’s just the way they kiln-fired them. See the final photo for details. Her body has its original finish, with a few minor touch-ups to the right heel, middle of the back, and at the neckline. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
