Very attractive 25″ painted bisque head incised on back: MAX HANDWERCK Germany 2 1/2, head circumference is 11″, has medium brown sleep eyes, red accented eyes & nostrils, painted upper & lower lashes, blushed cheeks, an open mouth showing tongue & upper teeth, good even coloring. Head has no cracks or chips, does have a faint’line’ across back of head from the’x’ in Max to about 3/4″ from the ear (about 2″ long), which cannot be seen inside with a light…. Possibly is a paint line and not a hairline in the bisque. The fully jointed wood & composition body is in good condition, toes retain red accent lines, some accent lines remaining on fingers. The right front hip joint shows an area of rubbed-off paint, also a small area of paint rub-off on outer side of right foot with slight separation of material on foot edge, same separation on left foot at heel area, stringing is very good. She wears a blond human hair wig styled with front bangs and long curls in back, has antique pate. She wears a lovely & very well made antique outfit which includes a (brown/gold/blue) striped drop-waist rayon dress which is trimmed in antique cotton laces at the neckline & sleeve edges, has a cotton print fully lined bodice, full pleated skirt, back opening with a hook & eye closure (eye is missing). Her matching hat is lined with the same fabric as the bodice lining, and has wide heavy black satin trim. Her vintage (a bit newer than the dress & hat) ecru cotton petticoat & matching bloomers have cotton lace hem edging, with 2 rows of pin-tucks around the skirt. She also wears long black cotton stockings & vintage (not antique) black leather tie-front shoes which have brown taffeta sewn-on flowers on the toes, cardboard soles.
