This darling little boy reminds me of Christopher Robin. ” He has a Simon & Halbig socket head made for Kammer & Reinhardt, marked “39 at the base of the neck, and a light brown human hair wig. He is fitted out in a hunter green satin-lined velvet outfit with knickers and matching hat. His blue Peter Pan collared shirt makes the suit look just dapper! And his argyle socks look great with the velvet suit, as well as his unique antique green stitched-leather shoes, which are signed on the sole, and of good quality. His tie and tie pin make him look very academic. With a pair of glasses, he could be a Harry Potter character! Trivia: Under a loupe, you can make out the lettering on the little winged tie pin, which says AOPA. It dates to about mid-century, and was issued by the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association to its members. He really is sweet and will look great in your collection. A wonderful doll with a great price! Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No issues found with the bisque after careful examination. His body is in good condition, with its original finish. The knee joints in his legs (under the knickers) appear to have been repaired at some point in the past, so they are not supple in movement as they should normally be. The left leg, especially, is somewhat stiff. As with many dolls of that time period that are presented as boys, he may have started life as a girl doll. If you look closely, you can see that the ears are pierced. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
