A fine, early example of JD Kestner’s 145 child doll with a flawless bisque head and shoulder plate (PRISTINE). This antique Kestner mold 145 from the late 1890’s features his original plaster pate, soft blonde mohair wig (although the mohair is becoming spare at the back), and a white leather child body (NO HOLES OR DAMAGE — slightly discolored from his blue suede ensemble) with lower bisque arms/hands. This rare 14-1/2 inch Kestner doll also possesses his original striking blue glass sleepy eyes (his eyelids have NO paint losses). He also has thickly brush-stroked brows with feathered highlights, painted lashes, accent dots at eye corners and nostrils, and an open mouth with four square teeth. This adorable gentleman is styled in his original costume, which was modeled after Little Lord Fauntleroy. His plump cheeks and chin lend an appealing wistful expression to this well-dressed young fellow. His bright blue ensemble shows some damage, as the suede has deteriorated in a few areas over time. His outfit consists of a coat with ruffles, undershirt, pantaloons, and knitted socks. Overall excellent, antique condition. Please se e my photographs as they form a vital part of my description.
